Wachovia Center awarded LEED EB OM Gold certification

Like 1000 De La Gauchetière before it, a second SITQ office property has received LEED EB OM (Operations & Maintenance) certification. Wachovia Center, a Tampa, Florida, building co-owned by SITQ and USAA, has achieved Gold-level certification under the LEED EB OM program, administered by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

Wachovia Center is only the third recipient of Gold status in the Tampa Bay area and one of only 10 LEED EB OM Gold–certified buildings in the entire state.

"We are proud to have yet another LEED-certified building in our U.S. portfolio," said Nadim Hanna, Vice President, Asset Management. "This prestigious distinction is the result of an enormous effort on the part of the property management team of our partner, USAA Real Estate. As co-owner, we threw our support behind this undertaking from the outset, as it is consistent with SITQ's sustainability values."

LEED certification marks the culmination of an awards-filled year that speaks to Wachovia Center's pledge to sustainable development. Earlier this year, the property received the TOBY award from BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) in the 250,000 to 500,000 square feet category. It also earned Energy Star certification for the fourth year in a row from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy.
